The Apache Software Foundation provides support for the Apache community of open-source software projects. The Apache projects are characterized by a collaborative, consensus based development process, an open and pragmatic software license, and a desire to create high quality software that leads the way in its field. We consider ourselves not simply a group of projects sharing a server, but rather a community of developers and users (participate).

Drupal is a web content management system and web application framework. It is also a vibrant, growing, and fun community of programmers, activists and communicators. The core Drupal software is the poster child for Web 2.0, community driven web site software. The highly extensible architecture supports well over a thousand sub-projects in the form of contributed modules and themes (participate).

The GNOME project provides two things: The GNOME desktop environment, an intuitive and attractive desktop for users, and the GNOME development platform, an extensive framework for building applications that integrate into the rest of the desktop (participate).

Joomla! is one of the most powerful Open Source Content Management Systems on the planet. It is used all over the world for everything from simple websites to complex corporate applications. Joomla! is easy to install, simple to manage, and reliable (participate).

The MoinMoin project is developing a popular wiki engine in Python. Wikis are getting more and more important for the communication infrastructure of open source software groups all over the world. Many groups like Apache, Ubuntu, Python, Debian, Fedora, Xen, KernelNewbies etc. use MoinMoin to keep in contact with their users and developers, as well as for project documentation (participate).

The Mono Project implements tools to run ECMA CLI code on Linux, which includes code written against the Microsoft.NET platform or a number of CLI-based stacks (including our very own Gnome/Gtk# based stack). Currently Mono consists of a runtime, a set of class libraries that are compatible with Microsoft.NET 1.1 (some chunks are compatible with 2.0) our own stack, C#, VisualBasic, JavaScript compilers and the MonoDevelop IDE (participate).

The Moodle project is working to develop the best tool for online learning that we can. Our software is a Learning Management System written in PHP, designed to help teachers facilitate communities of learners in a variety of interesting ways. Moodle is widely used around the world by universities, schools, companies, and all manner of organizations and individuals who need to conduct education online. Many of our users take part in the community on moodle.org and contribute with ideas, debate, testing, education, documentation, bug fixing, feature writing and everything else that makes an open source project function (participate).

Plone is an open source content management system written in Python. The Plone Foundation was formed in May 2004 to serve as a supporting organization for Plone. We are modeled after similar ventures, such as the Apache Software Foundation, and will be providing support for the development and marketing of Plone. In addition, the Foundation will be the legal owner of the Plone code, trademarks, and domain names. Our goal is to ensure that Plone remains the premier open source content management system and that we broaden its acceptance and visibility worldwide (participate).

Python is a high level programming language designed to be highly readable. The mission of the Python Software Foundation is to promote, protect, and advance the Python programming language, and to support and facilitate the growth of the international community of Python programmers (participate).

SilverStripe is a modern PHP5/MySQL-based product for building websites and web-applications. We focus on making the content management system (where you edit website pages and content) surprisingly easy to use, while remaining powerful enough for complex sites. We also provide a contemporary object-oriented framework that provides enjoyment and productivity to programmers (participate).
